US v World 2010 – USA Wins!

 
Congratulations to the USA adult team, who beat the World team in a hard-fought game in the annual Labor Day US v World game. The US team won on penalties after the game ended tied up at 2-2 after the expiration of regulation and one 15-minute overtime.  The winning team (wearing the white strip) graciously posed with their vanquished comrades after the game ….

CJSA: Background Check Requirement

Dear Weston Soccer Community,
 
On behalf of the Weston Soccer Club, Inc. Board of Directors and myself, we are all looking forward to the fall soccer season and opening day.
 
Beyond this “Welcome” and the belief that each and every season Weston youth soccer players have the opportunity to experience the joy of individual skill and teamwork strategy development, I am writing to make you aware of the CJSA (Connecticut Junior Soccer Association), the state’s governing body, requirement that if you are a participate in any of the following categories, you must complete CJSA’s Background Check:
  • Parent Assistant Coach: Tots-U14
  • Practice Parent: Tots-U14
  • Team Manager/Commissioner: Tots-U14
  • Weston Youth Referee: Recreation, Academy and Travel
  • WSC, Inc. Board Members
 
CJSA’s website is www.CJSA.org (homepage see “CJSA Background Check” link at top of right column, click and proceed).
 
The CJSA Background Check is easy to access and complete in a few minutes.  The questions are somewhat invasive and the information is checked and secured by Lexis-Nexis.

Please note that you only have to complete the background check once - it is not a yearly requirement.
 
I receive a list, on a monthly basis, of volunteers and youth referees who have completed and been cleared for interaction with youth soccer players.  Volunteer and youth referee clearance will be in the form of:
  • Monthly List
  • Parent Assistant Coach Pass
  • Combination of Monthly List and Parent Assistant Coach Pass
 
CJSA has enacted this policy to protect players and it is not intended to deter volunteerism or youth refereeing; so, I hope all who want to play important roles in Weston youth soccer programs will complete the CJSA Background Check.
 
Separately, and while I have your attention, end of season party reimbursement for Development, Recreation Plus and Travel teams has been discontinued and the $100 has been reallocated to tournament reimbursement ($350 to $450), with supportive documentation, in recognition of the increased cost of tournament registration.

State Connecticut Cup Fall Championship)
 
Saturday mornings at Morehouse Farm Park, Field 5

   

 

TIME GRADE PROGRAM
9:00am - 10:00am 3 to 8 FOOTSKILLS
10:00am - 11:00am 3 to 8 STRIKERS/FINISHING
 
Players will be divided into groups of appropriate ages and levels and participate in a safe and fun learning environment. Please note that we need 10 players per clinic to proceed. 

Dates: Sep 25th, Oct 2nd, 16th, 23rd, 30th
(no session Oct 9th)
 

Footskills or Finishing Clinic  -  $95 per player
Sign up for Both Clinics for $175 per player
