The Weston Soccer Club, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization managed by volunteers. The Club delivers quality age and skill-appropriate soccer programs to boys and girls grades Pre-K through 12 and adults in Weston, Connecticut.
As the Academy players enter their second year more emphasis is placed on working together as a team so good communication needs to be worked on every week. Working on getting the ball down the field using multiple players by good movement and communication. The 4th grade Academy players are now being introduced to the tactical side of the game.
U10 Spring Season Curriculum
Week 1. Possessing the ball for longer periods by passing in all directions (backwards essential)
Week 2. Checking to the ball
Week 3. Preparation before receiving the ball (know your surrounding area)
Week 4. Receiving the ball and holding up play to bring in other team mates. (Player evaluation)
Week 5. Finding teammates with a pass then moving to receive the ball back
Week 6. Different types of movement by forwards (behind and across defenders)
Week 7. Playing out from the back (goalkeeper passing to defenders)
Week 8. Free Kicks (Player Evaluation)
As the Academy players enter their final season more emphasis is placed on working together as a team with good movement by teammates without the ball the key to being successful. The U10 Academy players continue to be instructed in the tactical side of the game.
