Rec Plus
The Rec Plus program has boys and girls teams for players from 3rd grade to 9th grade.  Our teams participates in a league comprised of neighboring towns and is similar to Travel Soccer (see below) but is less competitive and requires less of a commitment.  Rec Plus encourages participation so every player plays at least 50% of every game and there are no try-outs and no cuts.  Prior experience is not required and all children are encouraged to join Rec Plus for the fun of playing soccer and to gain the positive experiences of a team sport.

Rec Plus teams have 2 practices weekly which are run by professional coaches.  The days and times of the practices are subject to the availability of the coaches and the fields and are determined just before the start of the season.  Games are on Saturday and are located either in Weston or one of the nearby towns.   Players must wear soccer cleats, shin guards and a team uniform (purchased separately) and bring a #4 (U12 and below) or #5 (U13 and above) soccer ball to all sessions.

Girls’ Rec Plus League

  • Games, with parent coaches, are on Saturdays against teams from nearby towns, such as Westport and Wilton.
  • Parents are expected to assist with team logistics such as team management, game coaching and program administration.

Travel Soccer

Travel Soccer is geared to the more competitive player who is willing to make a more serious time commitment to soccer. Players must try out for the team and be invited to participate. Teams play in CT Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) sanctioned leagues and must abide by CJSA rules. Teams must follow strict age guidelines. For example for the U9 (under 9) team, players must be under nine years old as of August 1 for the upcoming fall and spring season. Generally, this means 3rd graders participate in U9 travel.

Travel teams are selected during tryouts run by professional coaches.  Professional coaches are hired to coach the team and run practices and games. Practices are held twice each week for 1-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, the days that practices will be held cannot be determined until right before the season begins due to the tight field conditions in Weston and the professional coach’s availability. Games are generally scheduled for Sundays, but occasionally there will be a game on Saturday as well. Games are generally played in Fairfield County. Parents are responsible for their child’s transportation to and from games. Players must wear soccer cleats, shin guards and a team uniform (purchased separately) and bring a #4 (U12 and below) or #5 (U13 and above) soccer ball to all sessions.
