Thank you for volunteering to serve as a practice parent for your child's team.  As practice parent, you are responsible for the following:

  1. WHAT TO BRING: Please bring the team contact list and a cell phone with you to the practice.  If you do not have a copy of the team contact list, ask your team manager for one. This list will enable you to contact a parent or guardian in the event of an emergency, and will also provide medical information that might be relevant to emergency personnel.
  2. UPON ARRIVAL: Please arrive at the field on time and introduce yourself to the professional coach or coaches. Take attendance. Parents are expected to notify the coach of any absences. Ask the coach at the beginning of practice which players aren't expected to be there, and then follow up with a call to the parent if any child is missing but not on the coach’s absentee list. If the parent cannot be reached, call your team manager for assistance.
  3. DURING PRACTICE: Let the professional coaches know where you'll be sitting during practice. Please make sure kids stay on their designated field during the practice. If players leave the field to use the restroom, please take note of their prompt return.
  4. MINOR INJURIES:  Ask your team manager whether your child's coach is holding the team First Aid kit, or whether it will be given to you by the manager or another parent.  Please locate the kit in advance in case it is needed and take care of any child who needs attention for a minor injury. Also, if you need to use it, please follow up with an email to your manager to let him or her know if the kit needs to be replenished.
  5. MAJOR INJURIES: For major injuries such as: fainting, head injury/suspected concussion, possible broken bones, major bleeding, allergic reactions, or any other serious situation, you are urged to call 911 first, then call the child’s parents second. Do not hesitate to err on the side of caution by calling 911. Any blow to the head, regardless of severity, must be reported to the child’s parent as soon as possible.  A child sustaining a blow to the head, regardless of severity, should sit out the remainder of the practice.
  6. OTHER ISSUES: The coach should be able to handle any behavioral or other issues that may arise, but if you have any concerns feel free to contact your team manager or: Travel Director (grades 5-8) Corey Rubin (Corey.Rubin@ldcom.com), Academy Director (grades 3-4) Bob Johnson (Robert.johnson1975@gmail.com), or Junior Academy Director (Grades 1-2) Justin Villepigue (justinv@fastmail.fm).
  7. AT THE END OF PRACTICE: * Important *  Please be on the field when practice is over and stay with the group at the practice field until all children have been picked up by their parent or carpool ride at the field. The coaches will assist in reminding the players to stay with the practice parent until their parent or carpool ride physically comes to the field to get them.

Thank you again for volunteering your time!
